By default, the standard Minecraft launcher only allocates 2GB of RAM. Modded servers running heavy mods (like Distant Horizons) require significantly more memory. Keeping the default value will cause heavy lag spikes and lowered FPS.
Important Limit: Never allocate more than half of your system's total physical RAM. For example, if your computer has 8GB of RAM, allocate exactly 4GB to Minecraft.
